PHILIPPINE LEAGUE GUIDE
Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball
League (MPBL)
Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League: a Philippine league with a city and provincial identity.
The name and the idea.
MPBL stands for Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. Founded by Manny Pacquiao in 2017, it is built around teams associated with cities and provinces. EASL’s partnership announcement describes a home-and-away competition across the Philippines.

Keep the place in the story.
A team’s location is an important part of reading an MPBL fixture or report. Before comparing seasons, check the full team identity and the season label: a name, sponsor or participant list can change.
Use dated announcements for changing details.
ABS-CBN’s 2020 release is evidence of the league’s early community focus, not proof of who broadcasts games today. Likewise, a partner’s announcement is useful for the partnership it describes, but is not a substitute for the league’s competition regulations. This guide deliberately leaves live standings and player-eligibility rules to current official announcements.
